Personal Information:
Alex joined the Kinesiology department in 2011. His research interests are in microcirculatory adjustments to exercise and aging, especially at the onset of exercise. Recently, his work has focused on how the sympathetic nervous system works with local and regional dilation to shift blood flow to active muscle fibers, as well as mapping adrenoreceptor distribution in mouse locomotor muscle. Dr. Moore is also interested in how the endocrine system responds to chronic physical activity and negative energy balance. Dr. Moore's research involves both human and animal subjects in a variety of settings. In the classroom, Dr. Moore teaches human physiology, biomechanics, and supervises student research projects.
Dr. Moore has strong ties with the Westmont Biology department, having taught cell biology and genetics as a visiting professor. He enjoys cycling and watching his wife coach the Westmont Women's basketball team.
