Thank you for your interest in our wonderful department! Kinesiology at Westmont focuses on preparing students to enter into a multitude of fields related to the Allied Health Sciences. Many of our graduates pursue further training to become Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Physician Assistants in graduate programs throughout the country. They are also pursuing careers in gerontology (working with the older population) and personal training and exercise physiology.
So what is Kinesiology all about? The term Kinesiology is from the Greek – which means “to move”. Therefore, Kinesiology is the study of movement; more specifically the study of human movement. Our students learn about the body from a multitude of perspectives! Many of our courses include laboratory and/or research opportunities as well.
What about our faculty? We are a faculty that love students, love the discipline, love our department and most importantly, love our Lord. We love to go deep with students, both in and out of the classroom. Once a Kinesiology major, you will be assigned an advisor who will guide you through your coursework and help you make decisions regarding career fit. Your advisor will also help you take the necessary courses that will move you closer toward your chosen career path. But more than that, they will be concerned with your spiritual, physical, social and emotional life. As advisors, we’d like to think we are concerned about ALL of you. So if you love to study the human body, love to move and love people, consider Kinesiology at Westmont!
