Language Laboratory
Westmont College has received a generous grant from the Stamps Foundation for the construction of a new multi-media language lab which will be located in the bottom floor of Voskuyl Library, next to the Media Center. As a result, different lab designs are under consideration and the College will begin construction of the new lab in the summer of 2000, with completion by the Spring of 2001. The lab will have approximately twenty student stations, equipped with the latest Macintosh computers, CD-Rom programs, and video viewing stations. The technology will enhance the learning of the new language outside the classroom by affording an opportunity for the students to communicate using the target language. On-line communication will broaden the students’ horizons to include a much larger world than just the English-speaking world. In addition the professors in the Modern Languages Department will have their own web-sites with their own personally designed programs to assist the students in their acquisition of the new language.
