Philip Ficsor, violin, whose playing is described as "luminous" by the Santa Barbara Independent, recently released a highly acclaimed recording of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer William Bolcom's complete works for violin and piano. Fanfare "strongly recommended" the recording and The Strad called his playing of the Suite for Solo Violin "beautifully managed and well-prepared." He received his D.M.A. in violin performance from Boston University and studied with Erick Friedman at Yale University (M.M.). He received a B.M. and M.M. from the University of Michigan (studied with Stephen Shipps). Pre-college, Dr. Ficsor attended the Hans Richter Conservatory of Music in Gyor, Hungary. He is an editorial advisor for Bolcom's works for violin and piano. He has taught at Westmont College since 2006.
