John has been on adjunct faculty with the Westmont College music department, directing the jazz ensemble and teaching jazz piano since 2006. He served as musical director for Westmont’s production of the stage musical adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, directed by Mitchell Thomas (2012). John has served as musical director/pianist for hundreds of Broadway musicals and revues at Santa Barbara area high schools, and youth, community and professional theatre companies. He won Santa Barbara Indy awards for musical direction for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Rubicon Theater (2012) and Next to Normal at Center Stage Theater (2014). As a songwriter/composer, John’s credits include six shows with at-risk youth program, City at Peace at Center Stage Theater, two original musicals at Santa Barbara High School, and UCSB’s production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing (2016). John is also on adjunct faculty in the Santa Barbara City College music department, and is music director for Live Oak Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Goleta. Performing credits include tours with the Pointer Sisters, Donald O'Connor and Eddie Fisher, and shows with Aretha Franklin and Dizzy Gillespie.
