VI. Endnotes

Anthropological and sociological writing typically employ endnotes rather than footnotes. Since references are cited within the text as illustrated above, endnotes are used to give the reader further information that otherwise would break the flow of the main text if it were included there. Nonetheless, do not include an endnote unless the information is substanative. The reader is alerted to an endnote by placing a super-scripted number in the text usually at the end of the sentence after the punctuation mark. The endnotes are numbered sequentially.

The endnotes are placed on a separate sheet labeled "Endnotes" and occur at the end of a paper before the bibliography. The endnotes are numbered and listed in the order they appear in the text. Each endnote is single- spaced with a double- space separating each
