The mission of Westmont College is to provide a high quality
undergraduate liberal arts program in a residential campus community
that assists college men and women toward a balance of rigorous
intellectual competence, healthy personal development, and strong
Christian commitments.
Westmont
College
is a nationally ranked liberal arts college in the Protestant
evangelical tradition. Faculty are expected to wholeheartedly
embrace the mission of the college, relating their faith to their
teaching, to their scholarship, to their mentoring, and to their
lives. We desire faculty able to engage in interdisciplinary
dialog and pedagogy. The college has a strong commitment to build
a culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest
caliber.
With a limited enrollment of 1200 students, the college is
selective in admissions and emphasizes excellence in undergraduate
teaching and scholarship. The student body is increasing its
ethnic diversity with a high rate of retention. The faculty has
established six college-wide standards of excellence, including
diversity, by which the college reviews its curriculum and assesses
student learning. The college encourages students to participate
in on-campus programs (e.g., a minor in ethnic or gender studies)
and off-campus programs to study in environments that are culturally
and ethnically different from their own. Applicants with the
expertise and experience to participate actively in these activities
are particularly encouraged to apply.
Westmont is an EEO employer, seeking to be diverse in people
and programs consistent with its mission. For more detailed information
about the college, visit About Westmont.
Applicants should send their application with a cover letter,
curriculum vitae, and names of three references (unless otherwise
indicated) to the individual department chair, Westmont College,
955 La Paz Road, Santa Barbara, CA 93108.
