Role And Mission
The mission of Westmont College is to provide a quality undergraduate liberal arts program in a residential campus community which assists college men and women towards a balance of rigorous intellectual competence, healthy personal development, and strong Christian commitments.
We are a strong, academic institution, considered to be one of the best national liberal arts colleges. At the same time, we are also one of approximately 100 institutions holding membership in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU). Westmont is the only CCCU school in the nation categorized by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as focused exclusively on the liberal arts. Many high quality academic institutions that once held religious affiliation, have since forsaken it. We believe, however, that it is not only possible, but imperative, to combine the two while embracing the reality that few institutions choose this wise yet difficult path.
