Wallace Emerson Society
The Adams have long supported missions and ministries. Eleanor reaches out to ESL students and serves on the missions committee at her church. Glen belonged to the board at HCJB World Radio for many years and sits on four boards: International Leadership Group (partners with Peking University in China); the Santa Barbara Rescue Mission; the Young Life Regional Com-mittee and the Santa Barbara Historical Society.
No one knows the value of planned giving better than Glen and Eleanor Adams. As vice president for college advancement for more than 20 years, Glen directed fund-raising programs on campus and encouraged alumni, parents and friends to remember Westmont in their will or estate plan. At the founding of the Wallace Emerson Society, which honors donors with planned gifts, the Adams became charter members. “We have met many alumni over the years, and we’re impressed with Westmont’s product,” Glen says. They know one alumnus particularly well: their son, Trent, graduated in 1990. “He had a great experience at Westmont, especially during the San Francisco Urban Semester,” Eleanor says. She taught English as a second language for more than 20 years, “the most fun job in the entire world,” after raising their two children. Trent works as a financial planner and lives with his wife and two children in Irvine, Calif. Alison went to Wheaton College and lives with her husband and three children in Malibu, Calif. “We believe Westmont is a quality investment for the kingdom, and we want to be part of making David Winter’s vision for a completed campus come to pass,” Glen says. “We just wish we could do more.”
