A Commitment for Life
Linda Jones Perry '63 never thought about abortion until she got pregnant. At the time, she taught education classes at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and her husband, Dennis '64, did postdoctoral work in nuclear chemistry at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Much to her surprise, some feminist faculty members criticized her for having a child. Full Story
The Politics of Banking
As a Westmont student, Janet Jones Lamkin '81 developed an interest in politics that has never waned. For more than 20 years, she has combined her majors in political science and business in a varied and successful career. In August, she became president and chief executive officer of the California Bankers Association (CBA), the largest state banking organization in the country. Full Story

Eric Gemelli '85 knows what it's like to be out of a job with five children to support. After a successful career selling financial products, he started his own company, Cornerstone Financial Services, in 1997 and raised venture capital. While the firm flourished at first, it later foundered and Eric ended up losing money and his livelihood. Full Story

As a graduate student at Caltech, Bill Klug '98 conducted fascinating research on blunt head trauma and bacteriophage viruses. One day his work may help fight disease by explaining how viruses inject DNA into cells. Full Story
On the Fast Track
John Lies '98 grew up around a race track watching his father train thoroughbred horses. The excitement of the crowd as the horses rushed down the stretch got into his blood. He loves the sport and decided to make a career of it. He began by training horses with his father and working for several prominent stables, but that didn't engage him. Full Story
