“Our Little Secret: Breaking the Silence on Sexual Abuse”

Author and international activist, Nicole Braddock Bromley, will share her inspiring story and empower all of us to find our voice, begin our healing journeys, and be a solution to sexual violence in our culture.

Friends and Leaders Session

With 1-in-3 girls and 1-in-6 boys become victims of sexual abuse before the age of 18. Know how to recognize the subtle signs of past, recent, and current abuse and how to effectively respond when others are silently crying out for help.

Debrief Session

This is a heavy week. It can help to debrief with someone, whether it be sharing your story or sifting through thoughts that have come up.  Counselors will be available in the Counseling Center, faculty and staff will be in Founders Room.

Thinking of a career in social entrepreneurship to fight sexual exploitation?  Join the Career Development and Calling office and a panel of professionals to see if graduate school is for you. Desserts and coffee will be served!

"One Voice: Being a Solution to Human Trafficking"

Be inspired by Nicole Braddock Bromley, a modern-day abolitionist. Hearstories of rescue and prevention of child sex trafficking inthe US and around the world. Learn how youcan join thefight against sexual exploitation and injustice, take a lead in changing culture and be a part of the solution.

Sometimes facing these topics bring up things that need to be said. Sometimes it can be hard to know where to go from here, or how to manage the emotions that come up. Two counselors from the Counseling Center will lead a group where students can express and address how they are responding to this critical yet difficult content. Bring a friend, or come alone.

Urban Initiative hosts a panel of leaders who are involved in fighting against sex trafficking in Santa Barbara. Panelists include those working with the government and non-profits assisting survivors.
