E. Leave for Victims of Felony

Unpaid leave will be granted in accordance with State law for employees who are victims of, or related to a victim of, certain felonies in order to attend judicial proceedings related to the crime regardless of whether the employee’s attendance is required at the proceeding. In order to qualify the employee or employee’s spouse, child , stepchild, bother stepbrother, sister, stepsister, mother, step mother, father or step father must have been a victim of a “violent felony” as defined in Penal Code Section 667.5, a “serious felony” as defined in Penal Code Section 1192.7 or a felon involving theft or embezzlement. Employees must give prior notice of the need for leave where possible.
