Borderlinks: Mexico/US (Open to all majors)
This 15-credit semester program on the US-Mexican border is based out of two campuses, one in Tucson, adjacent to the University of Arizona, and the other in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Our faculty teaches five different courses: History of Mexico, Peace and Justice Studies, Liberation Theology, Culture of the Borderlands, and Conversational Spanish at the intermediate and advanced levels. Roughly half of the semester is spent in Tucson and the other half in Mexico. While in Tucson students are housed in a comfortable residential home. In Nogales the program revolves around life at the BorderLinks Community Center called “Casa de la Misericordia” or the “House of Mercy.” During the time in Nogales, Sonora, students spend four weeks living with local families and participating in life in the colonias or neighborhoods. There are also two Travel Seminars which take the students east and west along the border to other cities. Homepage
