First Year Retreat

The First Year Student Retreat is a highlight of the year for many of those who are new to the Westmont community. This weekend offers opportunities to get away from campus for a reflective break, participate in breakout sessions and workshops addressing topics that first year students face, and continue to deepen relationships that have begun to form in the early days of the fall semester. The basics on the First Year Retreat are below.

Who will be there? The retreat is open to all first year students, but space is limited. Students will be joined by faculty and staff who play prominent roles in the lives of our first year students.

When is the retreat? The retreat is October 3-4, 2008. The retreat begins on Friday evening and concludes on Saturday evening and students will be back on campus by dinnertime on Saturday.

Where is the retreat? The retreat will take place at Camp Whittier, a camp and retreat center in the nearby Santa Ynez Mountains.

How much does it cost? The cost for students is $25 and sign-ups will be taken beginning at Orientation.

What does the theme mean? The theme for this year's retreat is "Coming Up For Air." After taking the big plunge into life at Westmont, many students simply need some time to surface, take deep breaths and relax. This retreat provides students an opportunity to do just that.
