The Tajiguas landfill is located approximately 20 miles north of Santa Barbara on the Gaviota coastline.
Trash collected in Santa Barbara County is trucked to the landfill and then compressed by tractors with special tires.
Giant tarp rolls cover any exposed trash at night.
The Tajiguas Landfill is nearly at capacity. So far no other viable sites have been proposed in Santa Barbara county. Our campus sustainability efforts have a direct effect on the care of our local and national environment.
