Final Examination Policies

1. The final examination schedule will be published by the Registrar prior to advance registration for each semester.
2. The last examination in any course may not be scheduled during the last week of classes. A unit exam may be given in the last week of classes if a final exam is also given during final exam week.
3. The final date for the submission of written work should be prior to the start of the examination period, NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM ON THE LAST DAY OF CLASSES.
4. Classes and laboratories are not to be held during the examination period.
5. Take-home examinations may be used at the faculty member's discretion, but these must be submitted by the student no later than the examination time as announced.
6. Faculty members are not free to reschedule final examinations for individuals or for the whole class. The Academic Senate Review Committee, acting on petition(s) from student(s) or faculty, must approve exceptions. REQUESTS FOR RESCHEDULING MUST BE PRESENTED AT LEAST TWO (2) WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY OF FINAL EXAMINATIONS
7. Students will not be required to take more than two final examinations on any day. Requests to reschedule a third examination may be presented to the Registrar. The Registrar will approve the rescheduling of one of the three as arranged by the student with the faculty members. The request must be presented to the Registrar at least two weeks in advance of the scheduled examination time.
8. Individual students will be granted permission to reschedule examinations in the event of serious illness or family tragedy.

Requests to reschedule a final because you have three scheduled in one day or because of a special situation must be completed and turned into the Registrar's Office by Tuesday, December 2, 2008.

NOTE: FINALS WILL NOT BE RESCHEDULED TO ACCOMMODATE TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS.
