Becky Collier ’17, NAIA national champion in the outdoor heptathlon and a three-time All-American, says Westmont is pretty perfect. She gets elite athletic training at a Christian school with strong academics.
“I feel like I learn more about myself and the Lord when I compete,” she says. “I keep running and jumping and doing the things that are fun but also glorify Him athletically.”
She developed her own major—social entrepreneurship—and appreciates the power of business to make a difference. She witnessed this firsthand during a spring break in Haiti helping people start their own small businesses.
The captain of the track and field team, Becky has developed leadership skills at Westmont. “I’ve gained a new confidence and discovered I can be good leader,” she says.
“I came to Westmont for track and field, but all these academic opportunities have been much more transformative. I have a new passion for learning—and I’m not done learning. I’ve been growing a lot spiritually.”
The Riverside, California, native may keep training after graduating or she may work in a social business. “I want to enter a career where I am the best version of myself and reveal God’s glory,” she says.
We come to Westmont from every walk of life. Each of us unique. All of us eager to learn from the others. And even though we’re a diverse community of artists, activists, athletes, musicians, scholars, gamers, and dreamers, we’re connected by a common thread: our deep love for Jesus Christ. You’ll feel His presence in every club you join, game you play, and country you visit. And it’s here, among this culture of Christian values and infinite possibilities, that you’ll discover your passion (or two, or three).
Congratulations! You've been accepted! We hope you join us in a transformative journey of faith and rigorous pursuit of scholarly knowledge on a campus like no other. Confirm your offer of admission and learn more about the fun weekends planned in March and April with the links below.
