New Student Send-Offs
If you 're a new Westmont student or parent, you doubtless have plenty of questions about life on campus. Dean of Students Jane Higa '73 will be there to answer your big-picture queries about academics and residence life, and questions about what to pack and how to get around Santa Barbara. Come to the send-off party to get the answers to your burning questions and meet new students from your area. Westmont Still Accepting Applications for Fall 2009!
Westmont is pleased to announce we are still open to receiving applications for Fall 2009 for both first-year and transfer students. Applications will be reviewed in order of the date on which they are submitted and admission notifications will be mailed on a rolling basis as applications are completed and ready for review.

Reassurance from Westmont in these economically challenging times
Westmont and the Office of Admission would like to offer the following reassurances to you at this time. The media is describing this year’s financial aid process as a “crisis”. While Westmont recognizes these are difficult days, we also want to assure you that your opportunity to attend college, especially Westmont, remains very strong and positive.
There is GOOD NEWS!
- Westmont will NOT be increasing tuition for fall 2009 and spring 2010
- All Westmont institutional loan and grant programs are not only intact, they are stronger than ever
- Westmont has increased financial aid support by adding one million dollars to our financial aid budget
- This will provide greater affordability in a most significant way
- Westmont has increased the number of recipients for some academic scholarships
- Approximately 86 percent of Westmont students receive financial aid
- Re College Endowments: While colleges are reporting endowment losses, this will not impact Westmont as we are not heavily dependent on our endowment dollars
Scholarship Opportunities
Westmont offers generous academic scholarships to qualifying first-year students. All levels of academic merit scholarship, with the exception of the Monroe Full-Tuition Scholarship, are available regardless of when you choose to apply.

Westmont is in the top tier among the nation’s best liberal arts colleges according to U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges, 2009 Edition.” Of the nation’s 265 liberal arts colleges, Westmont ranked in a four-way tie at 111. This is the fourth straight year the college has ranked in the top tier. Only seven other liberal arts colleges in California are ranked in the first tier: Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, Scripps, Occidental, Pitzer and Thomas Aquinas Colleges. more...
