Welcome from the Preview Day Interns

Hello prospective students!
We are so glad you’re considering Westmont College and we want to welcome you to visit campus during one of our fall Preview Days. You can attend class and chapel, meet the Admissions Office staff, hang out with current students, and immerse yourself in the Westmont community. If you are particularly interested in pursuing studies in Science, Engineering, Technology, and/or Math, we encourage you to join us on September 29 - 30 for STEM Preview Days. We hope to see you soon and have the opportunity to show you why we love Westmont!

- Nolan Anderson & Kayla Peterson

Note for Parents

Parents are invited and encouraged to attend Fall Preview Days and are welcome to participate in all scheduled events unless otherwise noted. There is no additional cost for parents to attend, however there will be a charge for meals in the Dining Commons.

What to Bring

While the weather in Santa Barbara is typically mild, it can be cooler in the mornings and the evening, so we recommend dressing in layers and wearing comfortable clothes. Westmont’s campus has hills and stairs and you will do a fair amount of walking during your time on campus, so we also recommend comfortable shoes.

Students staying the night on campus will want to bring the following:

  • Sleeping bag and pillow (dorms do not have extra beds)
  • Towel and toiletries
  • Comfortable clothes
  • Spending cash

Interviews will be available for seniors and transfers who are in the application process and will be scheduled as counselors are available. If you have requested an interview, you will receive your interview time and location upon arrival to campus.

Interviews are recommended but not required as part of the application process at Westmont.

Auditions and Additional Meetings

Learning more about the various departments on campus can be an important part of any college visit. It is best to get in touch directly with the department you are interested in. Here is the contact information for some of our more frequently requested departments:
Music: (805) 565-6040
Theater: (805) 565-7040
Athletics: (805) 565-6110

Other department contact information can be found at www.westmont.edu/academics/.

Transportation to and from Santa Barbara locations (airport, train station, bus stop) is available for students travelling without family members. Please provide all arrival and departure information as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for a vehicle and driver.

Important Overnight Information

Students are invited to stay one night on campus for either Thursday or Friday night. On-campus and off-campus activities will be hosted by the Westmont Admissions interns both evenings. Students staying overnight on Friday are invited to participate in additional activities on Saturday morning at various locations throughout Santa Barbara with transportation provided by Admissions. Saturday morning’s schedule also includes sessions for parents and guests on-campus. Please see the schedule of events for further details. Student on-campus meals are covered in the $25 cost to attend.

Students who have requested an overnight stay on campus will be housed with a student host, typically in one of the first & second year residence halls (Page, Emerson, or Clark Halls). If you would like to stay with a specific host or in a certain residence hall, please let us know. Most Westmont student resources and programs are available to students during their overnight stay including the library, fitness center, guest lectures, shuttle transportation off-campus, athletic matches, and arts events hosted by music, theatre, and art departments.
