About Westmont: So far Westmont has been my new home. I have life long friends here and I love campus life. Like making cookies at midnight on a friday night with the girl, or going to the dances, or just sitting in the lounge talking with my friends. I found that I missed the day to day interactions with my friends and classmates this summer. Overall, Westmont has been a great place for me to grow and learn.
Bio: I’m from Inglewood, California. It’s in Los Angeles County, known for rap songs and kicking out Walmart, among other things. I am a sophomore taking on 16 units (that is four lecture classes) and two labs this semester. I plan on becoming a high-risk obstetrician (delivering babies in high-risk situations). I am Vice president of the Black Student Union, and on the core team of Gospel Choir and of Intercultural Programs.
Random Fact: I like to wear mixed-matched clothing (i.e., earrings or shoes or socks).

Stefanie’s Fourth Blog
February 28th, 2008
Hello, again! It has been a long time since I sat down to write a blog. We had our four-day Spring Holiday not too long ago. For Presidents Day, we get that Monday and Tuesday off. Instead of going home to LA for the long weekend, I decided to stay on campus. It was a great time! Not too many people were on campus and I got to spend time with people who are normally too busy to just hang out. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worst…there were no beach days during our short vacationL. But other than that, it was a great vacation.
We are in the middle of midterms right now. A lot of people are studying and trying to get projects done. Personally, a lot of my tests are done, so I can take a breather before I start work on my next projects. Ironically, when I don’t have time to just sit in the sun or go to the beach, the weather takes a turn for the better. I guess I would rather take a test when it is nice and sunny outside than when it is rainy. That way, when your test is over, you can just sit outside for a minute and relax.
Looking ahead to the future (which I do a bit too often), spring break is just around the corner for us (2 weeks and counting). This year, since Spring Break and Easter are so close together, the college has decided to combine our Easter and Spring breaks so that we have an 11 day break (including weekends). Personally, I will be going to Atlanta to visit my older sister. Many people are going on various service trips, the major ones being: Potter’s Clay to Ensenada, Mexico; Race Equality and Justice to Mississippi and Spring Break in the City to San Francisco. Eventually, I hope to go on one of these trips, but for now, I felt the need to see family - especially so close to Easter.
Well, that’s all I have to say right now. Hopefully, I’ll be able to blog again soon.
Hasta Luego - Stef
Stefanie’s Third Blog

Hey all! Happy New Year!!! I hopeyou had an amazingly restful winter break. I personally had a great break. We getthree weeks off at Westmont and I spent a majority of my break at home in Los Angeles (for most of it, I belive I was sleeping). Now we are back on campus about to finish up our first week. This semester, I am taking Genetics, Organic Chemistry, Life and Literature of the Old Testament and Hip Hop. For those of you who are reading my blog for the first time, I am a Biology/ Pre-Med major and the Hip Hop is just for kicks. I am enjoying all of my classes, but I have to say that my favorite so far is genetics; mostly because it is the bases for biology butit also has a fun lab (we get to map DNA and stuff like that).
Besides academics, I am also co-leading the Black Student Union this semester. We are in the process of planning events for Black History Month in February. We do not have anythingset in stone yet, so more details to come in the near future. I am also on the Gospel Choir core team which is a lot of fun. We are performing in chapel next week so the first day back to school we had rehearsal (this was not a bad thing because we all got to see each other in the same room for the first time in four weeks since we did not have rehearsal during finals. And we really needed to work on our songs).
I am predicting a great semester with lots of fun on the horizon. I hope that you have a fun semester as well.
Til next blog! - Stef
Stefanie’s Second Blog

Long time, no blog. I’m sorry to those who love to read the blogs. I was editing a huge one but then my computer crashed and I lost it. So to catch up…we had midterms at Westmont a few weeks ago. That was a busy slightly stressful week. I came out on top of most of my classes.
I’ve just returned from a conference in Indiana - the National Christian Multicultural Student Leaders Conference. During this conference, Christian colleges and universities (the majority of which were from the Midwest and East Coast) gathered on the campus of Anderson University and held workshops and worshipped together. We went to several workshops that made you think about how you live your life. One included a simulation of injustices that are acted upon you and how it feels. There were also ethnic caucuses where you were split up into your ethnicity and discussed the main issues at your college and university. I learned different things that I can do as a leader of the Black Student Union to raise attention to the need for and importance of diversity.
Also, I got to hang with a cool group of people from Westmont and take fun pictures! It was one of the few times I have been to the East Coast during the fall. It was fun throwing leaves and taking photos of this. Now that I’m back on Westmont’s campus, I have found that being on a different campus made me appreciate Westmont so much more - everything about it. We have further to go in order to increase diversity on campus, but we are making steps in the right direction.
I bet you’re wondering what is on the plate of this busy ‘pre-med’er…Well, I’m counting down the days to Thanksgiving and good food! I will be traveling to a good friend’s house and I can’t wait until Black Friday. For those of you who are not shopping addicts, this is the day after Thanksgiving when everything is cheap and affordable for once. Until next time…
Hasta pasta, Stef
Stefanie’s First Blog
September 21st, 2007
So, I have never really been a big blogger, but I have a motto, “if you don’t try something at least once you haven’t really lived.” So that’s why I’m trying out the blogging thing. I guess my first blog should be an introduction of myself. This is my second year here at Westmont. I am a Biology major (just made it official - yay!!) in the pre-med program. For those of you who think that Pre-med is a major, it isn’t. You can major in anything you want - like Philosophy or English. The cool thing about going to Westmont is that through the general education (gen ed) requirements, you are able to try out classes from each department that you normally would not try out, like art or history.
But enough of that stuff. This semester, I am taking a nice mixture of major classes and gen ed classes. I’m taking Spanish II, Life and Literature of the New Testament, General Biology II, and… Organic Chemistry. Now if I could be pre-med and not take O-chem, I would not be in this class (it’s hard!). But the labs are fun, so it kind of makes up for the course material.
Now, on to the fun stuff…extra curricular activities. I am on the core team of Gospel Choir, the Black Student Union, and Intercultural Programs. I know most of you are thinking, “how is this girl able to be involved in so much and not have passed out from the stress of everything!” At least, that’s what my friends think. The trick is…it is a delicate juggling act with very careful time management. My student planner is my best bud right now.
I hope I haven’t bored you. There’s more and better to come! Maybe some pics, maybe some funny stories, I really don’t know. I’m the type of person that says in the morning, “Ok, Lord, Your will be done.” Hasta Pasta, Ciao, I have many ways to say good bye. But mostly I like to say Hasta luego, because it’s never really good bye.
