Value in Westmont

The Right Investment

At Westmont, every student is consistently challenged to integrate what they are learning in the classroom with their values and priorities as a Christian - preparing them for a remarkable future. The combination of Westmont’s superior academic programs, hands-on and cross-cultural learning opportunities, and first-rate faculty will equip them with the experiences and character they need to thrive as thoughtful Christians in today’s complex world.

At Westmont, the VALUE of a student’s education is enhanced in several important ways:

Graduation in Four Years

The U.S. Department of Education cites that 79% of students at private, four-year institutions complete their degrees in four years or less, compared to 49% of students at public/state institutions. At Westmont, the majority of students complete their degree in four years – or less. This translates to a lesser cost in the long-run, on-time graduation and the ability to begin their careers or graduate school right away. By remaining in an institution more than four years, more costs are accrued, financial aid may be lost, and career opportunities are minimized. You may look at the ‘sticker price’ of public universities, other independent colleges and Christian colleges and think you are seeing a great value because they cost less. We simply ask you to evaluate the "True Value." What type of person do you want to be at the end of your undergraduate experience?

Personal Attention

With an average class size of 18, students have extensive opportunities for one-on-one teaching and mentoring from their professors.

Focus on Undergraduate Education

Because Westmont is exclusively undergraduate, students always have the privilege of a Westmont professor teaching class. Plus, they are able to work side-by-side with professors on original research - all the equipment and resources Westmont has to offer are solely for the use of undergraduates.

An Emphasis on Developing Character

From thought-provoking classes to a rich campus ministries program (including our well-known Potter’s Clay Mexico ministry) to a diverse student body, everything about Westmont is geared toward deepening students’ character and giving them the strength and resources they need to be the persons God has created them to be.

Understanding of the “Big Picture” of Your Life

As a liberal arts college deeply rooted in Christ, Westmont strives to help students grow intellectually, personally and spiritually. Plus, significant opportunities for hands-on, off-campus learning and service provides a big-picture view of the world and a student’s place in it. By providing an education that integrates faith and knowledge, we prepare students not only for rewarding careers, but also for rewarding lives of learning and serving.

Nationally Ranked Academics

Students say Westmont’s academic programs, which feature top-ranking faculty (97% of whom hold the highest degree possible in their field), are often life-changing. In fact, the value of our educational experience is so exceptional that U.S. News and World Report has recognized Westmont as a first-tier national liberal arts college, and The Princeton Review has named Westmont as one of the “Best in the West.” This national recognition gives a student's Westmont degree an even stronger reputation.

A Track Record of Unparalleled Success

You’ll find that Westmont students have succeeded in almost every field, from business to education to art. They have gained admission to the nation’s top law and medical schools and to graduate programs in a wide variety of fields, including those at Columbia, Harvard, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Princeton, Yale and many other prestigious institutions.
