The Westmont women's tennis program has had success on the national level almost from the year it started. Women's intercollegiate tennis began at Westmont in 1975, and just two years later placed 7th in the AIAW national championships. That was followed by two more top-15 national finishes in AIAW competition.
The first year of national competition in women's tennis for the NAIA was 1982, and Westmont christened the event by claiming the inagural national title. Head coach Chris Milner was named the NAIA National Coach of the Year. In the past 21 years, the Warriors have returned to the NAIA national tournament 18 times, placing among the top 15 teams on 11 occasions.
Kathy LeSage, a former All-American for the Warriors, took over the coaching reigns from Milner and has now been part of the women's tennis program for over 20 years.
Westmont tennis has produced 18 NAIA All-Americans and 5 NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
