Building Updates

January 6, 2017

  • While students and faculty were on Christmas break, a new sewer line was installed across the Van Kampen parking lot. A temporary patch will remain in place until the entire parking lot can be repaved in May.
  • All the structural concrete slabs have been poured for the buildings.
  • Framers continued to install walls and roofs on the residence buildings.
  • Electrical wire and plumbing pipe installation continues in each of the residence buildings.
  • Wood beam installation for the roof structure of the kitchen areas of the north building will begin next week.
  • Window installation for the north building will start very soon.
  • Installation of the steel for the Common Building has begun and will continue for the next two weeks depending on weather.
  • Restoration work will begin in creek areas north of Van Kampen and south of the track. Non-native plants have been removed and 4,500 native plants will be planted on the banks of the barrancas. This riparian enhancement is required by the county as part of the mitigation for the construction impacts.
