Building Updates

March 22, 2017

  • We have exceeded the number of rain days in the construction schedule so the project is behind schedule. The construction team has developed a schedule recovery plan, which includes some overtime work and larger crews on site.
  • Exterior plaster is being installed on the north residence and south residence buildings. The metal standing seam roofs for the north and south buildings was loaded on to the roofs via crane last week. On the interiors electricians, plumbers and mechanical workers continue to install electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems. Sheetrock has been installed in many of the bedrooms. The tile contractor is installing the tile in the bathrooms for the student rooms.
  • Wood framing continues in the kitchen and lounge areas of both halls with the installation of the beams and roof structure.
  • The steel framing is nearly complete on the Central Building. Wood framed walls and roof structures for this building are in process.
  • We continue to work with the architectural team on the design and purchase of interior finishes.
  • Furniture for the student rooms, including beds and desks has been ordered. It is scheduled for delivery in late July.
  • The installation of over 4,500 native plants continues between storms in the riparian areas near Van Kampen Hall and below the track to restore riparian habitats.
