Building Updates

July 5, 2017

Construction of the three buildings that make up the Global Leadership Center is progressing well. Matt Construction and numerous subcontractors have been working with the design team and the college to complete the project in time for the arrival of students this fall. Recent construction activities include:

  • Student rooms in the northern residence building were given the Punch List walk this week. The Punch List is an inspection by the architectural firm to determine if any additional work is required in a space. Student rooms in the southern residence building are scheduled to be "punched" next week.
  • In both the north and south buildings, the cabinets are being installed in the student kitchens. Floor installation will begin next week once the cabinets are complete.
  • In the central building, the focus is installation of the large glass walls and interior finishes. Electrical and mechanical systems are nearly complete and crews are finishing installation of IT, fire and AV systems.
  • Furniture for the student rooms is scheduled to begin delivery on July 25. Furniture for other spaces is scheduled for delivery in early August.
  • The concrete subcontractor poured the first large section of site sidewalk yesterday. Installation of the accessible routes and other pathways will continue over the next few weeks.
  • The landscape contractor has installed some of the large trees so the large equipment needed to place the trees could access the site before the sidewalks were poured. Crews are creating rain gardens and detention basins to keep rain run-off on site. They are also building stone walls from natural material excavated from the site.

The buildings look very much like they will when students arrive with contemporary architecture set among large oak trees.
