Accommodations

Armington Hall is located on lower campus and includes five separate buildings nestled among the oaks. Each building has two to three levels with four separate suites and a large, central lounge on each level. Armington Hall can house up to 261 guests overall.
Deborah Clark Halls are 17 bungalow-like dorms on Westmont’s upper campus. Each building is unique with suites of three rooms per section that can house up to 244 guests. These halls are conveniently located near our dining and administrative facilities.
Emerson Hall, named for the college's first president, Wallace Emerson, is constructed on the highest part of campus and commands a view of the ocean or mountains. Its long halls of rooms separated into four wings can accommodate up to 106 guests.
John Page Hall has long halls separated into smaller sections on Westmont’s upper campus. It can house up to 210 guests and has primarily triple rooms. There is a large multipurpose room located on the main floor of the building.
Van Kampen Hall houses its 211 guests in private suites of four rooms each, surrounding a courtyard. Located on lower campus, it is central to most of Westmont’s facilities.

Benefit Concert to Help Hurricane Victims
Westmont’s baseball coach and a popular Montecito musician are teaming up in hopes of helping families affected by Hurricane Katrina. Rob Crawford and Bobby Shand will present “One Family at a Time,” a special benefit show with The Shand Band at SOhO, 1221 State St., Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door for $20, children half price. All proceeds will benefit the relief effort. Doors open at 5 p.m. more

Tickets are no longer available for the First Annual Westmont Christmas Festival, Saturday, Dec. 10 at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara. However, seating is still available for the performance, Friday, Dec. 9 at Westmont’s Murchison Gym. more

Renowned Playwright Creates New Work Through Student Collaboration
A group of Westmont students is getting a unique opportunity to work with an internationally acclaimed playwright, crafting a new production students will eventually perform in February. The Westmont Theater Arts department has commissioned playwright Erik Ehn to develop a new play as part of his ongoing Saint Play series. more

C.S. Lewis’ Wardrobe Goes on Display
Movers will be packing up a special Westmont wardrobe this week for a brief engagement at the Cerritos Library in hopes of inspiring youngsters to read. Westmont’s wardrobe was once owned by C.S. Lewis and closely matches the description of the one in his book, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” more

Westmont Celebrates the Christmas Season
Hundreds of students, alumni and neighbors donning mittens and scarves will celebrate the start of the Christmas season at the fourth annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Westmont’s Kerrwood Lawn next week. The 70-foot redwood tree on the lawn will come aglow at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30. more

Former Westmont President Roger Voskuyl Dies
Roger Voskuyl, who served as president of Westmont College from 1950 to 1968, died Nov. 9 in Santa Barbara at the age of 95. The Harvard-educated chemist, who participated in the Manhattan Project during World War II, led Westmont during a crucial time in its history. more

Gaede to Step Down as Westmont President


Seventh President to Refocus Work as a Christian Scholar

Westmont President Stan D. Gaede announced he will conclude his presidency at the end of the academic year in June. He has served as the college’s president since July 2001. Previously, he was provost, the top academic officer, for five years. The 58-year old will return to Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., where he joined the faculty in 1974 and became provost in 1993. He has accepted a position to serve as senior scholar-in-residence at the Center for Christian Studies, which he helped establish. more

Westmont Welcomes Internationally Acclaimed California Artist
Westmont’s Reynolds Gallery will display the works of California painter R. Kenton Nelson beginning next month in an exhibition titled “Narrative Idealism.” The free exhibit runs Nov. 10-Dec. 16 at the gallery, which is open to the public Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. more

Westmont Trustees Welcome New Member
Patty Martin of Woodside, Calif., has been installed as the newest member of the Westmont College Board of Trustees. Martin, 56, is a certified spiritual director and teaches classes at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church in spiritual formation. more

Benefit Reminder
Open enrollment for the Choice Account 125+ benefit is Nov. 4 until Dec. 2. this would be a good time to consider whether joining the plan or making changes to your existing contributions might save you additional tax dollars. This benefit provides you with the ability to use pre-tax dollars to pay for certain expenses such as: unreimbursed medical and dental expenses, office visit and prescription co-payments, PPO medical and dental deutibles and out-of-pocket costs; child care expenses that can be legally claimed as a tax creadit; and private health premiums for dependent coverage in a non-Westmont plan.

You will soon be receiving information via e-mail regarding open enrollment. The deadline for all enrollments and changes to current plan deductions is Friday, Dec. 2 at 5 pm. Please contact Megan Sandwick in the Human Resources office at ext. 7301 if you have any questions.

Blue Cross Reminder
On the HMO plan, the maximum co-payment you may be charged per inpatient hospital stay is $1,750. The college reimburses 80% of the hospital co-pay, up to $1,400 per hospitalization. Contact Megan Sandwick at ext. 7301 for more information on seeking hospital co-payment reimbursements.
