The Clunie House
A former Bed & Breakfast, this beautiful Victorian mansion is located on “The Panhandle” of Golden Gate Park across the park from the famous Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. The 1898 Clunie House, which survived the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire, serves as the site of Westmont in San Francisco during the academic year. The Urban House is centrally located in the City, and is within easy reach of public transportation providing access to all of San Francisco’s unique neighborhoods and attractions. Students and visitors enjoy residing in the house because of its proximity to Golden Gate Park, as well as its historical features, unique rooms, large parlor and new state-of-the-art kitchen.
Accommodations
The House offers eleven distinct rooms, all with private bathroom and shower facilities. We have a maximum capacity of 26 persons in single, dormitory style beds. Each room has its own closet or armoire and dressers for ample storage, high-speed DSL lines and reading lights. Rooms accommodate anywhere from 2 to 4 people, and some can be arranged to accommodate a small family or couple as needed.
Recreation
The Panhandle of Golden Pate Park is across the street from the House, offering grassy areas for recreation, and walking/biking trails that connect with the larger Park acreage just blocks away. Biking or walking through the Park leads to many attractions including museums, lakes, rose gardens, and access to the beach and the Pacific Ocean near the famous “Cliff House”. The House is minutes away from the Haight-Ashbury, Inner Sunset, Inner Richmond, Japantown, Pacific Heightsand Castro districts.

In addition, the newly refurbished kitchen provides a ‘coffeehouse’ atmosphere for people to gather and interact informally. The Director’s Office can also be used as a small meeting area, equipped with a desk, chair, and couch in a library atmosphere.
