Westmont Annual Fund
The Westmont Annual Fund is all about the students because your generous donations support programs that directly benefit students. When you contribute to the Westmont Annual Fund, you make an extremely important and powerful impact on the young men and women who seek to develop all aspects of their lives through our distinctive education. It would take more than $40 million in additional endowment to replace these essential annual contributions.
Your Gifts At Work
This summer crews will begin a major renovation of Voskuyl Library. Currently, students have very limited space to study individually or collaborate on group projects, papers and study sessions (left).
The entire main floor will be remolded to accommodate new conference rooms, labs, and comfortable, high-tech study areas (below). These alterations will more than double the learning/study space for students.
State-of-the-art technology will also be added including the addition of "mediascape", an interactive learning commons. These changes will make Voskuyl Library THE destination for collaborative learning at Westmont.
Gifts to the Westmont Annual Fund will help fund this important project.
In the last fiscal year (2008-2009), Westmont Annual Fund dollars also allowed Westmont to:
- Recruit and hire four impressive new professors
- Assist faculty in their ongoing scholarly research
- Add fire-retardant materials to Clark Halls
- Upgrade exterior emergency lighting at Van Kampen Hall
- Provided financial aid that helped Westmont provide financial assistance to 86% of students
Goals for 2009-2010
The Westmont Annual Fund fundraising goal this year is $2,750,000. These gifts provide revenue to support the operating budget, particularly to the area of student scholarships.
Westmont’s alumni giving participation has climbed steadily from 18 percent in the late 1990s to 32 percent as of June 30, 2009.
A Community Effort
Gifts from alumni, parents, and friends allow Westmont to offer a Christian liberal arts education, of the highest caliber, rooted in Christ. The result of this collaboration: future global leaders with intellectual integrity, unshakable character, and a commitment to Jesus Christ.
By supporting Westmont and its students, you enable a new generation of students to experience the many benefits of a distinctive Christian college education.
Support Students
The Westmont Annual Fund provides a dependable stream of income to Westmont’s operating budget, enabling the college to carry out its mission each year. Replacing these funds would require more than $40 million in additional endowment.
To support the life-changing ministry of a high-quality undergraduate liberal arts education rooted in Christ, the Westmont Annual Fund supports the following priorities:
- Attracting and educating a diverse, highly qualified student body
- Recruiting and retaining the finest faculty
- Housing students in a residential learning environment
- Ensuring the technology and facilities that allow Westmont to offer an exceptional college experience
Close the Gap
The legacy of faithful support from Westmont’s alumni, parents and friends is a tremendous asset. The Westmont Annual Fund supports annual operating expenses. On average, students have each paid about $2,000 less every year than the college has spent on educating them.
Your gifts to the Westmont Annual Fund helps to close this gap for students. You strengthen the college’s financial future by establishing a solid base of donors. Increased giving by alumni and parents helps attract major donations from foundations that interpret a broad base of support as a healthy indicator.
Improve Students’ Experiences
Each year, Westmont chooses the most critical capital projects to be funded by the Westmont Annual Fund. These may include repairs, remodeling, and minor construction. (Major capital projects are not funded by the Westmont Annual Fund.)
