Academics

What accommodations will there be for remaining finals?

Finals are continuing as scheduled for Thursday, May 7.

What accommodations will there be for students who missed finals on Wed. evening May 6?

Each professor will make a determination based on the specific nature of their class and required final. Students should check with their individual professor to determine next steps.

Aux Services

Will the post-office, bookstore, etc. be open this weekend

These will be open as previously scheduled.

Check-out

Will the check out times be the same?

All check out procedures will remain the same throughout the weekend.

Cleaning

Will rooms or items be cleaned for smoke damage?

If students' items smell of smoke then the best way to clean them from the smell is to wash as normal.

Commencement Weekend

Are baccaleaurate and commencement events still happening?

At this point all events will proceed as planned. We are closely monitoring the status of fire and if there is any change in the weekend plans we will post updated information on the website and fire assistance line if there is any change by Friday, May 8 at noon.

Will senior celebration continue as scheduled Thursday, May 7th?

Senior celebration will happen as scheduled with a changed location to the Cabrillo Arts Pavilion on 1118 E. Cabrillo Blvd. 4:15-6.

Will the Golden Warrior events happen as scheduled?

All of the regularly scheduled Golden Warrior events will happen as previously scheduled throughout the weekend.

Where will students pick up their caps and gowns and Baccalaureate tickets?

Caps, gowns and Baccalaureate tickets may be picked up after the Senior Celebration at the Cabrillo Arts Pavilion from 6-7pm Thursday, May 7 or in the Page parking lot from 9-4 Friday, May 8 as previously scheduled.

Communication

How will campus be alerted of an evacuation?

There will be an IRIS alert sent to students' cell phones and e-mails as well as alarms pulled in the halls, bull horn, etc. to actively communicate the evacuation.

How will we know updates on campus if we don't have internet access?

There is a screen displayed in the Dining Commons entry way which will be updated with relevant fire information throughout the weekend.

Counseling

Will there be counseling services available this weekend?

The counseling center will be staffed throughout Thursday and Friday to help support students.

Fire

What plans are there to prepare for fire?

We have additional staff at night for fire watch in case of embers. We also have a 250 gal. fire truck on campus to help put out spot fires if needed.

Will we evacuate or shelter in place if the fire came to campus?

We would still maintain the shelter in place plan through the weekend in case the fire spread to threaten campus. We ask all families who might be on campus if an evacuation is called to go to the gym rather than leave campus. The fire dept. has committed to keeping a fire engine at the gym in case of shelter in place.

Safety

How is the air quality on campus?

At this point it is not good and we will have face masks on hand and would recommend individuals with breathing problems to wear a mask. There is an update about the air quality on the Westmont homepage.

What will be the medical support available over the weekend?

There will be a First Aid station at both Baccaleaureate and Commencement for any medical needs that might arise.

Will there be water available?

We have bottled water stocked in the gym for hydration as well as for Commencement.

Shuttle

Will there be a shuttle system for graduation?

There will not be a shuttle service for the Commencement events.
