Reflection on the God of a Biblical Text

Your assignment is to put Jenson's Systematic Theology — which in a way is a synthesis of all we have done in this course — to the test in the following way:

Choose either a short book of the Bible, or a passage of up to several chapters from a longer book of the Bible. Write a sermon or exposition of that passage. In explanatory footnotes and/or allusions in the body of the text, show how Jenson's work either does or does not promote an especially acute understanding of God's character in that biblical text.

Optionally, you may use theological projects from earlier in this course (e.g., the patristic consensus as represented by Wilken, de Lubac's theology, Gunton's radicalized Protestant theology, one of the schools characterized in Karkkainen, or a text you read for extra credit) to develop the argument in Jenson, disprove it, or contrast favorably or unfavorably with it.

Please keep your paper 4-5 pages, double-spaced, and follow the directions in my handout for writing papers. Remember, I want to see proper style, clear writing, a thorough answer to the question, and explicit citations of course materials.
