Reflection on Personhood and Culture

You have read Zizioulas on divine and ecclesial personhood, and you have read De Marco and Wiker on the anthropologies in and beneath our "Culture of Death." Time to put these to diagnostic and prescriptive use.

First, the diagnosis: Where in an actual group (within your church, Westmont College, your family, or some other very significant group) do you see manifestations of the Culture of Death that De Marco and Wiker describe? What specific implied anthropology is operative there? Where among those people do you see manifestations of personhood as Zizioulas has taught you to identify them?

Next, the prescription: What steps do these two volumes suggest for improving that culture and its implied anthropology, and why are these steps promising? These need to be actual, practical steps, not abstractions.

Please keep your paper 4-5 pages, double-spaced, and follow the directions in my handout for writing papers. Remember, I want to see proper style, clear writing, a thorough answer to the question, and explicit citations of course materials.
