Meet the Newest Warriors Chloe Howard
Meet Chloe Howard.
She has the Warrior spirit coursing through her blood, “My parents both went to Westmont (they met at the BBQ at the beginning of the year! #cute), and my grandparents were professors in the education department there for 32 years! Because of this, I was basically walking Westmont advertising as soon as I learned how to talk. I grew up in Westmont t-shirts, and we always went to the Westmont men's basketball games during our school Christmas break when we'd vacation in Santa Barbara. For my entire life, whenever I've thought of going to college, it's always been in the context of that college being Westmont. While I applied to ten schools, Westmont was the scariest application I sent in, and the one I waited most eagerly to receive. I've been saying "yes" to Westmont since I was born. It's a part of me."
Despite her family legacy, choosing Westmont had to feel personal for Chloe, “I am an international inspirational speaker and published author (standbeautiful.me), and I felt torn because people had told me that I should attend a Big School with Big Connections in order to keep doing Big Things. But I wanted Westmont - I craved the small campus and the close-knit community and the personal student-teacher relationship so easily found there. I was desperate for some big voice or a magical sign or something to come out of nowhere and be like "Chloe! Go to Westmont. Not because of your parents or even your grandparents, but because it's perfect for you."
Her questions were answered the moment she received her acceptance letter, “I cried. I really did. It was kind of embarrassing actually (and incredibly unexpected), because I'm not a huge crier, but when I opened up that folder and say the words "Congratulations! You've earned it", it made sense to me. I earned it. It felt good and it felt real and it felt right.”
Still deciding what college is best for you? Chloe has some advice, “Go where you want to go. If it feels right, checks your boxes, gives you that feeling in your stomach, and maybe even makes you cry? Yeah. Go for it. Westmont did for me. A school will do that for you, too."
