Dr. Sarah Hawkins, Assistant Professor of Education, felt God’s call to teach while volunteering at her son’s elementary school. She obtained her teaching credential at Saint Mary’s College of California and later, earned her Master’s in Reading to support her students’ literacy development. After teaching junior high English and reading intervention classes for 15 years, she earned her Ed.D. at Saint Mary’s College where she specialized in Educational Leadership.
Dr. Hawkins has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in K-12 education with an emphasis on Literacy. While her primary focus has centered on literacy development, her scholarly interests include how literacy instruction, teacher preparation, and school belonging impact overall student well-being.
