Campus Life Spring Sing 2023!

At Spring Sing, Westmont students from each residence hall produce Broadway-style skits and compete for prizes and bragging rights. The longest-running tradition on campus, this event involves more students than any other Westmont activity. Performers in Spring Sing use song, dance and an occasional faculty/staff guest appearance to tell a story about this year’s theme.

Spring Theme!
Spring Sing 2023 Theme Logo: April Fools!

Spring Sing 2023: April Fools!

Each year committee members are presented with the opportunity to come up with a theme that has never been done, is relevant to the times, and that will be incorporated by each dorm hall in their 8 minute production. The theme that was chosen for this year's show is “April Fools,”
which will be taking place on April 1st (April Fool’s Day). We are ecstatic to see what each hall does with “April Fools” because we anticipate a variety of fun, goofy ways for the theme to be introduced in their skits. See you at the Santa Barbara Bowl on April 1st!

About Spring Sing

About Spring Sing

Spring Sing is admittedly a wonderful and challenging event because of the breadth and scope of the program and its audience. It has long been the policy and practice of Spring Sing to err on the side of caution and limit any content that could be confusing, misinterpreted, or potentially offensive. The care and dialogue required for important conversations, specifically on critical topics like race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality are simply not present in the fast-moving, comedic venue that is Spring Sing. For many years, the Spring Sing team has taken a cautious approach to minimize potential offense or confusion. While the product is never perfect it is intended for a broad and general audience. Spring Sing staff would welcome any follow-up questions or discussions on our policies or practices.

Purchase Tickets Online Here (Sales begin March 16th at 2:00pm)

You may purchase all admission tickets online through AXS or at the Box Office on event day. There are two ticket types available: Preferred Seating and General Admission (see below for more details). Preferred seating is more limited in quantity than general admission.

Important note: Prices listed here are that of online ticket sales through AXS. Tickets will also be available at the Box Office on event day, but the price will be slightly higher.

Preferred Seating Tickets (circled in RED below)

Preferred Seating is a way of reserving your seat at the Santa Barbara Bowl for the event plus other added perks. Benefits of Preferred Seating include:

  • Reserved seating so you can show up minutes before the show and still have a good spot!
  • Cushioned seating
  • Closest section to the stage
  • Ensure you and your party will be able to sit together without having to move far back in the rows

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Tickets

Where can I buy a ticket?

Tickets are sold through AXS (pre-sale) or at the Bowl Box Office on the day of Spring Sing.

Didn't Westmont use to sell tickets on campus?

Yes. We used to sell tickets on campus but due to a variety of reasons we are now selling only through AXS.com or The Bowl Box Office.

Will Spring Sing sell out?

With a venue the size of the Santa Barbara Bowl we do not expect to sell out of seats and you should be able to buy general admission tickets on the day of the show from the Box Office.

But we do anticipate the reserved seats to sell out…so order yours early if you’d like a reserved seat!

Where will I be sitting if I purchase a general admission ticket?

Take a look at the seating chart. Your general admission ticket will allow you to sit anywhere in sections A-I. This is marked "reserved" on the chart because it is reserved at other performances. For Spring Sing, this is our general admission area. Keep in mind that with the exception of a handful of seats, this section is first come first served! Doors open at 5:15pm and people arrive early!

Where will I be sitting if I purchase a Preferred/Reserved ticket?

These tickets save you a seat in the preferred seating section. Take a look at the seating chart. Your reserved ticket will save you a seat in Sections J - O.

Why buy a reserved ticket?

Reserved tickets give you the freedom to arrive at the show minutes before and still have a great seat, the seats are cushioned, and the Reserved tickets are in the closest section to the stage behind the GA Floor

Parking

How close is the Santa Barbara High School parking lot?

The parking lot is approximately 2 blocks from the bowl, about a 5 minute walk.

Will I be able to find street parking for free?

Yes, but you will want to ensure you show up at least an hour early to the Bowl. The Bowl is located near residential areas, and so parking is limited on the street. If you are looking to get street parking and arrive after 1 hour before the show, you may have to walk for 15-30 minutes.

What does premium parking get me?

Premium parking secures you a spot in the Santa Barbara Bowl parking lot. The lot is located right next to the entrance, so you are essentially parking and walking right into the venue.

Other Details

Is there food at Spring Sing?  Should we eat dinner beforehand?

Yes to both! Limited concessions will be sold at the show.

What time do the doors open?

5:15pm

What time does the show begin?

6:00pm

What time will the show end?

We expect the show to last for about three hours.  Due to county ordinances, we are required to be done by 10:00pm.

What else do I need to know?

It gets cold when the sun goes down.  Bring some layers or a blanket.

Do NOT bring coolers, large bags, folding chairs, or picnics.

What if it rains?

The show must (and will) go on. Bring a rain jacket!  But kindly refrain from using umbrellas during the show.

In the unlikely event that weather interrupts the show, we will communicate any necessary information.
