5x5: Celebrating Ten Years Bidding Instructions

How the Auction Works:

Artworks in this exhibition are available for sale through the museum web site via an easy auction format. When you are ready to place a bid, you will be prompted to fill out a short form to create a user profile, with a user name, and password that you can use each time you wish to bid or check the status of an artwork. Westmont students, faculty, and staff should use their email login and password to place bids.

The minimum bidding increment for all works is 5 dollars. You have the option of bidding in two ways: you can enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a work, and the site will bid on your behalf in 5 dollar increments up to your maximum, or you may bid manually in small increments throughout the course of the exhibition.

The auction will open on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Assuming there are no technical difficulties, bidding will end on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 5:00 PM PST. If the system is overwhelmed during the final minutes of the auction, the museum cannot be held responsible for lost bids. We encourage you to bid early and/or bid often to avoid the possibility of not getting your bids in at the very end of the auction!

When the auction has ended, you will be notified by email of the items you have purchased and receive an invoice for your purchases. You can pay for your purchases using our secure credit card check out. We also accept cash and checks in person.

Please remember that your bid is an obligation to complete your purchase. We cannot change bids once they have been entered, so bid carefully. All sales are final.

Five Easy Steps to Bidding:

1. Find a piece you are interested in buying.

2. Click the “Bid” button.

3. Fill out a short profile and create a user name and password. Save this information so you can log back in to keep bidding later in the exhibition. (Westmont students, faculty, and staff should use their Westmont e-mail login and password to place bids.)

4. You may enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item and we will automatically bid on your behalf in 5 dollar increments up to your maximum bid. Or, you can bid in smaller increments and check back throughout the exhibition to see if you are still in the lead or want to keep bidding.

5. Login at any time to see if you are still on your way to owning your treasure!

Receiving your Work:

Works can be picked up in person or sent to you in the mail. There is a $3 postage fee for each work that is mailed. Works that are mailed will be packed and shipped directly to you in a cardboard mailer, with insurance and delivery confirmation.

To pick up your purchase in person, please come by the museum during regular office hours at your earliest convenience. The museum office is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.

The museum reserves the right to release buyer’s name and contact information to the artist of purchased works.
