The Light Between

When I pick a subject to paint, my goal is to capture that place in its specific time. Painting en plain air helps me capture the mood and feel of a subject, through light and color and often adding details that aren't typically paint worthy (trash cans, power lines, newsstands etc). I want to capture things how I remember them and how I felt them. If I can draw a viewer into my memory of a certain time, then my painting is successful.
I graduated from Westmont College in 2006 with a degree in Fine Art. Since 2009, I've been practicing the art of daily painting, creating one small painting a day, working alla prima in oil. Landscapes and cityscapes are my favorite subjects.
