Painting is a reflection of my personal feelings and how I relate to the world around me. It might be music, an experience or an emotion that inspires me to begin a painting. Once the paint touches the canvas, an intuitive process takes over. Painting in multiple layers, and the process of scratching and wiping, becomes a visual language that allows expression without the use of words.
Karen Zazon's paintings have been described as conveying a hazy, dream-like quality. The dripping, scraping, obscuring, and overlapping of colors effectively define her own private language in paint. Her work is an intuitive process, beginning with a palette that stems from a feeling and then builds into layers that infuse chaos with calm where images often begin to emerge.
