Westmont Magazine Women’s Soccer Welcomes New Head Coach Jenny Jaggard
A veteran assistant coach in a successful program at Chico State, Jenny Jaggard has become the new head coach of the women’s soccer team at Westmont. Her inaugural season proved fruitful as she won GSAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Warriors (14-3-1) to a Regular Season Co-Championship and an at-large berth as the seventh seed in the NAIA National Tournament.
Her experience with winning and encouraging student-athletes to face the bigger questions of life contributed to her selection. She understands Westmont’s academic rigor and how athletic participation fits into students’ whole educational experience. Jaggard earned a Master of Science in sport and recreation science at Ohio University and a Bachelor of Arts in biblical studies at Southwest Baptist University.
She supports the college’s mission to provide a high-quality, Christian liberal arts education to student-athletes. “Westmont’s values, beliefs and educational philosophy perfectly align with my personal life mission,” she said.
“I believe my faith and background in biblical studies, coupled with my coaching education and experience, will allow me to thrive and make a positive impact on the lives of others. I view coaching soccer as a vehicle for teaching and preparing student-athletes for life and helping them to grow into their potential.
“My core team values are family, integrity, teamwork, hard work, enthusiasm, leadership, accountability, commitment to growth, respect and service to others. As a coach, I would describe myself as positive, demanding, instructive, encouraging, competitive and passionate about the game and people.”
Jaggard, the 12th head coach in its 38 season, has continued the team’s legacy, securing a home game in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round for the first time since 2017. The program has produced five NAIA National Championships, nine GSAC Championships and 55 NAIA All-Americans.
