Welcome to the Kinesiology Department
Kinesiology is the scientific study of human movement, and at Westmont we have been given the charge to train students to study and celebrate God’s greatest creation – the human body. Our faculty is passionate about their discipline and the students under their care. Kinesiology majors have a strong identity to their program of study and go on to serve in many areas of the allied health sciences. Our recent graduates currently serve in the fields of physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, nursing, personal training, chiropractics, athletic training, exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation and gerontology.
Kinesiology coursework includes human physiology, human anatomy, human nutrition, biomechanics, motor behavior, sport psychology, exercise physiology, care and prevention of athletic injuries, pedagogy and leadership, special populations, and research methodology and statistics. A rich program of electives includes clinical nutrition, sport nutrition, clinical exercise physiology, gerontology and research. Most of these courses include laboratory experiences or practicums. A recent addition to our curriculum is a Pre-Med program for those interested in preparing for careers in medicine.
