Does Your Student Need a Job?

If your student plans to work on campus, please read this important information:

Read the entire article below to learn which original documents students must bring to campus so they can begin to work.

Many Westmont offices and academic departments enjoy hiring students to help in various capacities, and these positions on campus provide students with real-world, resume-building experience. We sincerely hope your student will take advantage of opportunities to gain practical skills and experience, whether through employment on or off campus or an internship.

All students interested in working at Westmont need to bring certain original documents with them to verify their identity and eligibility to work in the United States. According to federal law, all employers must use Form I-9 to verify an employee’s identity and eligibility for employment in the United States at the time of hire. Failure to present original documents at this time may result in your student losing an opportunity in this competitive job market. Copies, faxes or scans of original documents are never acceptable.

To discover which original documents your student can use, see the Lists of Acceptable Documents on page 9 of the current Form I-9. Students with questions about this information should contact the COVE at studentemployment@westmont.edu or (805) 565-6031

We look forward to working with your student throughout the student employment process as well as preparing students professionally to venture into the world of work.
