Opera Audition Information
What opera is being performed this year?
The opera this year is La Perichole, by the famous French composer Jacques Offenbach.
Many state laws seem ridiculous. But before you condemn North Dakota for the heinous crime of falling asleep with your shoes on (seriously, it’s still illegal!), you should take a gander at the fairy-tale-esque kingdom of Peru in Offenbach’s operetta La Périchole. In this crazy world dictators cannot seduce young ladies if the mademoiselles are not married; angry husbands are thrown in prison with no hope of parole; and it is absolutely illegal to be a playwright!
Come one and all to audition! The more the merrier and the more hilarious!
When are the opera performances?
The Operas will be performed on Friday, January 22rd, 7 p.m. and Sunday, January 24th, 7 p.m. at Porter Theater on the Westmont's Campus.
Should I audition for the opera even though I've had limited vocal experience?
