Favorite Aspect of Westmont: Westmont College has been a part of my family for generations. While I did not attend college here I have known Westmont, its campus and its people from a young age. I have seen first-hand the quality of integrity and individuals that Westmont produces, through family and friends alike. Now that I am blessed enough to be working here I can fully appreciate the valuable character of faculty, staff, alumni and students. The Westmont community at large is a prestigious one; it is a community that has been molded and sharpened by the rigor and challenge of upholding an immersive education experience that feeds the mind and soul simultaneously. My favorite aspect of Westmont is to behold its product, to see its wealth pour out into the world in the form of bright minds and invested disciples. To work for Westmont and have a part in the formation of the next generation of difference makers, “it’s a blast-and-a-half” – Erik Hansen ’18.
Favorite Place on Campus: The entire campus is gorgeous but I’d have to say that I feel most at home in Murchison Gym. I have spent many hours in the gym practicing, playing and watching basketball over the years and it has always been a special privilege to do so. It’s a blessing to be able to enjoy recreation and competition in the same space that my grandfather left his legacy here at Westmont many years ago. Every time I step onto the court in Murchison, I am welcomed and humbled by history and heritage.
Hobbies: I love all sports, basketball and water polo especially. I love to eat, A LOT, so new restaurants or my mom’s home cooking are of high interest. I love thrift shopping and finding sweet deals on shoes (one can never have enough shoes). If I have copious amounts of free time, I like to travel and explore. Navigating the streets and redwoods of Santa Cruz is an all-time favorite. Woodstock’s Pizza and Marianne’s Famous Ice Cream makes for a good night out on the town.
