Intercultural Organizations

Below are the six (6) ICOs ICP currently oversees If you would like to get involved in any of the ICOs, please contact their student co-leaders.

Asian Student Association (ASA)

ASA’s mission is to foster community and create space for students of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) heritage to grow, learn, celebrate, and educate both each other and the community at large about API identity. Our vision is that API students at Westmont feel validated and seen for their backgrounds and feel comfortable and confident engaging with racial identity personally and in society.

Black Student Union (BSU)

BSU seeks to support black-identifying students on campus. We hope to encourage black students to learn more about their racial identity and advocate for institutional change to create a more inclusive environment. We recognize the stressors that come with going to a school on a predominantly white campus, and BSU provides a haven to decompress by having regular meetings and events to serve black students at Westmont.

Latino Student Union (LSU)

LSU's mission is to create a safe space for the Latino community where we can have meaningful conversations and uplift one another. We aim to foster an environment where voices are heard and traditions are honored. Our vision is to build a community that not only celebrates Latino culture but also spreads warmth, kindness, unity, and understanding to everyone on campus. Whether you identify as Latino or just want to learn and support, you are welcome. At LSU, we believe in creating a home away from home. LSU is more than an organization; it's a family.

Multi-Ethnic Student Association (MESA)

MESA is a brave space and a safe space that provides community for mixed individuals (multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and/or transracial adoptees) to be actively engaged, acknowledged, and loved as they navigate their identity in Christ.

Students for Racial Justice (SRJ)

SRJ is a branch of ICP that is led by white students where our goal is to educate other white students on the value of diversity where it isn’t talked about a lot. We aim to uplift the other ICP organizations by creating a space that promotes unity instead of uniformity. While all students are welcome regardless of race or ethnicity, it is led by white students for the purpose of sharing the responsibility of educating the Westmont student body. We know that the job of educating on the topic of racial justice often falls on students of color, so we want to encourage white students to step up, engage with, and be informed by stories other than their own. Just as Jesus exemplified in His ministry, we want students to seek biblical justice for those around them by engaging through intentional listening.

Global and International Student Association (GISA)

GISA’s vision is to create a community that is a home away from home for Wesstmont’s international and third culture students. Through fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, we aim to enhance cultural understanding, facilitate personal growth, and provide resources that empower students to thrive academically and socially. By promoting cross-cultural exchanges, celebrating diverse
perspectives, and offering tailored support, we strive to build a vibrant
and interconnected global community where every student feels
valued and connected.

About ICOs

Any registered Westmont student may apply to lead, be a member of or participate in programs organized by an ICO.  ICOs are and have always been inclusive, i.e. all students of all backgrounds are welcome to participate. Programs and meetings are framed and guided by the college’s learning standard for diversity and by the mission, vision and goals of Intercultural Programs.

This year, their vision is to focus on the spiritual and church histories and legacies of different cultures.
