Words of Warriors 10 Westmont Secrets No One Will Tell You

  1. Looking to get moving but lacking the motivation to drive far? Well, you’re in luck— Westmont has hiking trails all throughout campus! If you’re looking for a great short walk to watch the sunset, get on the trail between Emerson and Page Halls and follow it up the hill to a little lookout area!

  2. 3 words: Pascual’s. Breakfast. Burritos. These might not be much of a secret, but they sure can seem hidden if you don’t come to the DC at the right time. Generally, if you come a little later on a weekday (8:30-9:30ish), you can snag one of these delicious creations made to your specific order (2 with tots is the best).

  3. The Westmont student directory will quickly become your new best friend. Whether it’s trying to get in contact with someone for a group project or showing someone a picture of your Westmont Wow, this is the go-to place for connecting names to faces.

  4. Few people know the beauty that is racquetball. And even fewer people know that Westmont has its own racquetball courts below the Murchison gym. Look for a door across from the pool and grab a couple of friends to join you for a super fun time!

  5. Grab an HDMI cord on a Friday or Saturday night and set up a large-screen movie-theatre experience in almost any classroom around campus (as long as there’s no class in it).

  6. Indies (or individual hangouts) are one of Westmont culture’s finest creations. Setting up an indie with someone (guy or girl) can be a fun and casual way to make new friends, get a chance to know an acquaintance a little better, or just have a great conversation to break up your day!

  7. Some of the best places to study (or take a study break) are the upstairs lounges in Winter Hall (my favorite being the psychology lounge). Side note: you don’t even need to belong to the major (psych, computer science, etc.) to use the couches and work spaces there.

  8. With the Take a Professor to Lunch program, you can arrange a time to grab lunch with any prof (whether you have them for a class or not), courtesy of the Westmont College Student Association. It’s a great chance to get to know them on a more personal level, pick their brains about questions you’ve been wrestling with, and converse with some of the coolest people in different fields of study!

  9. You can find the wardrobe that inspired (sorry, Wheaton) the magical wardrobe described in “The Chronicles of Narnia” in Reynolds Hall. Daydream of escaping to a world of  talking fawns and long voyages when homework gets too overwhelming.

  10. Students can always choose to create their own major (with faculty and panel approval). For example, I know several students who are social science majors (a combination of history, economics and business, sociology, and political science). It’s like a secret menu, but for your education!
