Kyra Davidson is a graduate of Geneva College (B.A. in Sociology) and holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from Baylor University with a concentration in Community Analytics. A native of Western Pennsylvania, her primary research interests include rural sociology and criminology. Her master’s thesis focuses on women’s perceptions of criminal courts, while her dissertation focuses on rural-urban differences in housing affordability and poverty in U.S. counties with colleges and universities. She has co-authored published research concerning COVID-19 impacts on rural food insecurity as well as research on fear of crime among religious women. During her time as a graduate student, she worked with several non-profit organizations through Baylor’s Center for Community Research and Development.
Her non-academic interests include beekeeping, fishing, and watching Pittsburgh sports. She and James Davidson were married in 2022. Together, they love building community, serving their church, and spending time with their dog, Buster Brown.
